The challenge of school is what got me started on my essential oil journey so many years ago. I've shared my story during presentations and each time I do, there's at least one parent at the end that approaches me to ask about exactly what I did to help my daughter. Our parental instincts are to protect our children and support them when they are going through challenges. As my husband states it's the mama bear in me.
There is so much pressure placed on our children to excel academically, socially and in daily after school activities. They must build that resume for college admissions is what I was told. What I wasn't told is the emotional and physical toll that it would have on my daughter and son.
When my daughter wasn't in school she was either home studying or volunteering on the weekends so she could have the necessary grades and volunteer hours to apply to Veterinary School. On top of that, she was involved in student government and drama.
The same type of pressures were felt by my son when it was his turn at high school. Being a student athlete his schedule was school, studying, endless hours training or playing basketball and other school extracurricular activities.
When I saw that I needed to support my daughter with the stresses of school and volunteer load, the mama bear in me awakened and started to look for natural ways to help her manage the stress. That is when I turned to essential oils. I knew what it was like to depend on medication for anxiety and I didn't want that path for her. Two essential oils is all it took for me to see the benefits of using the oils to support her emotional wellbeing.
However, by the time my son started high school I had an arsenal of natural products and was ready to support him emotionally and physically. Let's just say I had a bit more than two oils to support his high school journey .
Now, my daughter is grown and on her own and my son is attending University. Both have their own personal essential oils and supplements they can turn to for emotional and physical support.
This mama bear will not go into hibernation but at least I can rest knowing that I have empowered them to take care of themselves in a natural way.
